Change Based Navigation (and inline diffs)

Hello once again, AppCode Migrator here,

In other IntelliJ based IDEs I commonly navigate a file by jumping between changes (Goto next/previous change). This functionality exists in Fleet, but its implementation makes it less convenient to use as a method of navigation (and in general). There are two issues:

1. The inline display of changes is annoying, especially when you only jump to a change “on your way” to another change in the file. After all, the “Goto next change” expects you to go to multiple changes, so constantly altering the inline state of the file doesn't make much sense. It would be great if you added an option of previewing the changes as a ~tooltip, like in your other IDEs, so navigation is smoother with static file contents.

2. When you're done navigating, the inline diff of the last change remains on screen! This is terrible for navigation, because you aren't actually interested in that diff, you only wanted to travel the file, and now you have to manually close that preview. Again, tooltip would fix this, but also even just hiding the change on cursor movement would be helpful here…

Thanks ahead!

Hello,

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on this. I just passed your suggestion over to the UI/UX team for further discussion. I'll let you know if any additional input is required from your side.

Have a great day! 🙂
